What Makes Algarve An Outstanding Golf Destination?

The game of golf, as we know it today, might have originated in Scotland, but it’s in mainland Europe it finds its true home. Europe is dotted with well known golfing regions and courses of international standard. One particular region has earned the tag ‘Golfer’s Paradise’.

You guessed it right.

Algarve, in the southern region of Portugal, is perhaps the best golf region in Europe. In 2014, it raked in many awards, including the honor of being Europe’s Best Golf Destination for the year 2014. It’s a well deserved honor, but what are the factors that make the Algarve an outstanding golf destination? Let’s find out.

Golf Courses

Algarve houses an impressive set of golfing regions, and the best among them is Vilamoura. There are six courses, located within easy distance of each other. Grounds such as the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course, Millennium, Pinhal, Old, Faldo and Laguna are the six wonderful courses in this region.

Another famed destination is Quinta do Lago, which is only few kilometers to the east of Vilamoura. Here golfers get to play at three championship class grounds, namely: Laranjal, North, and South golf courses. Not too far from here is the known and admired Vale de Lobo Resort that is home to the Ocean and Royal Golf Courses. Other courses that offer superb greens are the Gramacho, Pinta, and Penina Golf Courses.

Lesser known golf regions of the Algarve that are much preferred by golfers for their scenic surroundings, tranquil atmosphere, and challenging courses are Tavira and Lagos.

Warm weather and scenic natural beauty

Algarve is a sunny paradise with the sun shining for 300 days a year. The region offers perfect weather for golf vacation. The best time to be on the course is early morning when it’s cool and calm. Though the peak period sees tourist inflow triple, Algarve is not just a season only destination. Tourists can visit any time of the year to play golf at top courses.

It takes just one glimpse to fall in love with Algarve. It’s a tourist haven with all kinds of nature’s bounty ready to charm the visitors. Besides golf, there is plenty to do and see. Grottoes and limestone caves are waiting for tourists to explore them. Those fond of water sports would definitely enjoy snorkeling, diving, and other activities, and others can take pleasure from the breathtaking view of crystal clear water from the quiet sandy beaches.

Deciding on a place to stay in Algarve will be much harder than you think. The options of accommodation available are wide-ranging and comprehensive. Every part of the region boasts of quality resorts, hotels, villas, and guest houses. The cuisines, activities, and facilities that luxury resorts and hotels provide to its visitors are top notch.

I wanted to find a good adviser on golf trips but find this indeed helpful place where you can both boost your skills and pick the most picturesque golf spot.
