Should I Visit the Palmares Golf Course in Portugal?

The answer is of course yes

Created in the backdrop of Bay of Lagos, the golf course architect Robert Trent Jones II designed the breathtaking Palmares Golf course in Algarve. The panoramic views of the natural scenery are an absolute delight for the golfers. The designer has beautifully crafted this 27-hole course, which showcases its remarkable environment to the maximum extent possible. The fascinating and engaging experience of golf at this course is remembered by the foreign travellers for many years.

The Palmares consists of three-returning loops of nine holes, which you can play in as many sequences as you want. Every time this course will appear different to you. All the three loops have their own characteristics and ambience. The fantastic scenery of the Atlantic Ocean and the Alvor Estuary lets the golfers breathe in the fresh air. It is one of the few golf courses in Algarve, which do not have any real estate on the site. Thus, the joy of playing golf in the lap of nature is enhanced multifold.

Layout of Palmares

The Palmares golf course is divided into three sections:

  • The Alvor Golf Course: The corridors of this area are lined with pine trees. Most of the holes are ascending hillsides and some of them are descending through valleys. For a while, you will notice that the parkland setting has disappeared and more exposed golf holes have begun. The sixth and the seventh holes also provide the momentary exposure of dunes holes. As you conclude the round of golf, the parkland setting begins again. It is a challenging set of holes. You better come prepared for it.
  • The Lagos Course: This course also resembles the Alvor. The whole site comprises of only two lakes, one at the par-3 third hole and the other at the par-4 sixth hole. The seventh and the eighth hole take the golfers to the expansive dunes and the golfers conclude the round of golf by ascending to the clubhouse. The parkland setting also accompanies the players at the concluding point. The Lagos starts fairly easy but as you move further, the holes get trickier when the wind starts testing your skills near the sea.
  • The Praia: This site consists of the dunes land setting at the seaside. The holes are lined by the beautiful beaches and a railway line. You will see these features when you descend from the parkland setting. The closing par-5 hole concludes to an amphitheatre, strategically built just below the beautiful clubhouse. The Praia is a very good course, which is strategically built, with some links holes set on the dunes.

Feedback

I wanted to find a good adviser on golf trips but find this indeed helpful place where you can both boost your skills and pick the most picturesque golf spot.
